The New Eve Motherhood Academy

The New Eve Motherhood Academy is a ministry designed to acompany women and support practitioners and institutions to accompany women in their motherhood vocation through the New Eve Method®.

About

The Academy was born from lived experience. Its founder, Dr Bridget Alabi (DProf), began this work after the loss of a stillbirth, seeking not only to improve her own chances of a healthy pregnancy but also to support other women in carrying pregnancies to term and welcoming healthy children. From its inception, women have been at the heart of this ministry.

Motherhood is a natural vocation to fruitfulness, mission and ultimately holiness.

“Be fruitful & multiply, fill the earth & subdue it” (Gen 1:28). Motherhood is a natural vocation as designed by the Creator. It is also a call to mission because woman is the one in whom the order of love in the created world of persons takes first root, and imbued with the spirit of the Gospel can help to stop humanity from falling (Mulieris Dignitatem 1988, § 29; Vatican II, 1965).

But ultimately, it is a call to holiness because everyone is called to holiness regardless of their state in life (Catechism of the Catholic Church # 2013).

The New Eve Method®

About

As Pope John Paul II reflects in Mulieris Dignitatem (§18), although parenthood is shared by both man and woman, it is the woman who “pays directly through the energies of her body and soul,” bearing the most immediate and demanding dimension of this cooperation with God’s gift of life.

While the mystery of generation is reflected in both motherhood and fatherhood, the physical, emotional, and spiritual demands placed upon women in conception, pregnancy, and birth are unique. For this reason, the New Eve Method® provides women with fertility & spiritual formation to live the three elements of their motherhood vocation and find holiness within their motherhood experiences. It is a holistic formation approach inspired by Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ whom the Church recognises as the New Eve.  It does this while also recognising and valuing the role of fathers during this process and within the wider life of the family.

The Importance of Lived Experience

Lived experience is crucial in understanding & using the New Eve Method®. Motherhood brings profound bodily, emotional, and spiritual experiences — fertility cycles, pregnancy, postpartum transitions, family responsibilities, and the daily care of children. The New Eve Method® begins by recognising these experiences, so that holistic & spiritual formation is rooted in lived experience rather than imposed for more effective maternal support.

Like Mary, who pondered the events of her life and responded to God with trust, women are invited to recognise these experiences as moments through which God speaks and guides them to a closer relationship with Him and transform the world.

The Three Formation Principles of the New Eve Method®

About

1. Natural & Holistic Fertility Formation

The New Eve Method® approaches fertility as a natural & holistic reality, reflecting the unity of body and spirit in women’s lives.

The Method emphasises the primacy of a natural fertility approach that works in line with how God created the body and the natural law.

Women learn to understand the rhythms of the menstrual cycle, recognise the signs of fertility, and navigate the transitions of pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and changing reproductive health. This formation helps women care for their reproductive health while developing a deeper awareness of the natural rhythms of their bodies.

Within the Marian vision that inspires the Method, the Method also sees fertility as not simply a biological process but part of the gift of embodied womanhood through which women participate in the gift of life.

As women grow in understanding their fertility, they gain confidence in interpreting the experiences of their bodies and responding responsibly within their maternal vocation.

2. Maternal Holiness through Marian Spiritual Formation

The New Eve Method® ultimately helps women discover that motherhood itself can become a pathway to holiness.

Throughout the Gospel, Mary responds to God’s call with openness, attentiveness, and trust. She receives the gift of life, reflects on the events of her family life, and remains faithful in both joy and uncertainty.

Fertility, pregnancy, parenting, and the responsibilities of caring for a family often present moments that require wisdom and faithful response. Following the example of Mary, the New Eve, women learn to receive the experiences of their maternal lives with attentiveness, reflect on them in the presence of God, and respond with faith and generosity.

The New Eve Method® encourages women to cultivate practices that support spiritual growth within the realities of maternal life. These include prayer, reflection on their maternal experiences, participation in the sacramental life of the Church, and moments of quiet attentiveness to God’s presence in their daily responsibilities.

This helps them to ask:

What is God asking of me in this moment of my maternal life?

In this way, maternal life becomes a place where women, like Mary, learn to listen for God’s voice and grow in faith & holiness.

3. Apostolic Fruitfulness

Fruitfulness extends beyond the private or domestic sphere into the wider life and mission of the Church. In the Christian understanding, motherhood is never solely confined to the home; it is inherently ecclesial and participatory in the Church’s life-giving mission. Every woman, whether through biological motherhood, spiritual motherhood, or her lived vocation, shares in a form of apostolic fruitfulness — a capacity to nurture, accompany, and form others in truth and love.

This apostolic dimension of motherhood is expressed in many ways: through raising children in faith, mentoring and discipling others, offering spiritual care and intercession, and contributing to the formation of culture within society. It also extends into professional, social, and parish contexts, where women bring a uniquely life-giving presence that shapes environments toward greater dignity, coherence, and care for the human person. In this way, motherhood is understood not as a limited role, but as a mode of participation in the Church’s mission — a way of bringing life into every sphere where a woman is placed.

About the Founder

The New Eve Method® was founded by Dr Bridget Alabi, DProf, a Catholic Motherhood Theologian & Researcher. Bridget holds a Professional Doctorate in Practical Theology, specialising in the natural family planning experiences of new mothers in the Catholic Church.

Her early career as a Health Geographer focused on understanding the socio-economic and environmental factors that influence health and disease, providing a strong foundation for her later work in fertility and maternal health.

Following a personal experience of stillbirth, her work shifted toward fertility, maternal health, and the theological meaning of motherhood. This prompted her to qualify as a holistic fertility therapist practitioner and a menstrual cycle practitioner.

Drawing on extensive research, professional training, and her work with numerous women, she developed The New Eve Method® to bring together all the important dimensions for holistic fertility. However, her doctorate research revealed that Catholic mothers sometimes struggled with body confusion and moral uncertainty which affected their ability to discern what God wanted of them in their motherhood vocation. This led her to expand the New Eve Method® to include a Marian spiritual formation of a sacramental life & doctrinal education.
